De duitse-spaanse tenor Joaquín Asiáin komt uit het noorden van Spanje.Zijn vocale opleiding begon aan de Academie voor Muziek in Madriden hij vervolgde zijn studie aan de Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart.

Hij volgde lessen bij gerenommeerde zangers als Aldo Baldin, Thomas Quastoff, Marimí del Pozo, Alfredo Kraus en W. Matteuzzi en is laureaat van de achtste A. Catalani zangwedstrijd.

Joaquín Asiáin is watt men in het algemeeen aanduit een „Tenore di grazia“, een tenor die uitzonderlik hoge tonen bereikt.Hij heeft zich hierin ook gespecialisserd.

Hij zingt de rol met de bijbehorende gezichtsuitdrukkingen en gebaren. Hij kan de aria met de volle stem zingen wat zeer bijzonder is.Hij zong de rol van de zwaan onder andere meer dan 200 maal in Madrid, Cologne,, Stuttgart, Graz, Palma de Mallorca, Innsbruck, Frankfurt, Bilbao, Zurich, Monterrey, Salzburg, Hamburg, Mexico en Berlijn..

Joaquín Asiáin is specialist in de rol van de zwaan in de Carmina Burana.

Het zangspel van de zwaan in de Carmina Burana is heel bijzonder. Carl Orff componeerde een zeer hoge aria voor tenor die uitzonderlijke stem kwaliteiten moet hebben. In de aria, van drie coupletten, worden een hoge Cis en D met de volle stem gezongen, dus niet zoals dat tegenwoordig vaak gebeurt met falset stem zoals bij een countertenor .
